STATUTORY FIT

AGEWARDEN performs age estimation. It analyzes voice and returns a decision. It does not check a government identification document, query a transactional database, or resolve your visitor's identity.

Most United States age verification statutes name the methods that satisfy them, and most of those lists are built from identification documents and transactional records. Where a statute names a closed list, a method that is not on the list does not qualify, however accurate it is.

Where AGEWARDEN qualifies

• Florida, as the anonymous method under Fla. Stat. § 501.1738. The statute requires a United States, non-governmental, independent third party that retains no personal information. Note that § 501.1737 requires operators to offer two methods and let the visitor choose. AGEWARDEN supplies the anonymous one. You must also offer a standard method.
• California, under Civ. Code § 1798.99.31(a)(5), which requires covered businesses to estimate user age rather than verify identity. The provision has been enforceable since April 2026 and is currently on remand, so treat its scope as unsettled.

Where AGEWARDEN does not qualify as a standalone method

Texas, Ohio, Louisiana, Utah, South Carolina, Mississippi, Montana, Idaho, Oklahoma, Virginia, North Carolina, Arkansas, Georgia, Kansas, Indiana, Tennessee, West Virginia, and North Dakota (N.D.C.C. § 51-07-32). Each names identification documents, transactional data, an age-and-identity database, or a NIST identity assurance level. AGEWARDEN supplies none of those.

Alabama, Arizona, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wyoming follow the same model legislation. Every statute in this wave we have read verbatim names identification documents or transactional data. We expect these do as well, and we publish each reading as it is completed. Do not rely on AGEWARDEN as a standalone control in those states.

Outside the United States

AGEWARDEN is not evidenced to Ofcom's highly effective age assurance standard and holds no ACCS certification. Do not rely on it for UK Online Safety Act compliance.
